DAA Teaching Assistant Program

DAA offers the Teaching Assistant Program for any interested enrolled student age 13 and older...

The magic of the performing arts is something we are very passionate about. We believe areas of this business can be excellent career options for those students who find a passion for it. Our DAA Faculty were introduced to dance early and found a passion for teaching through assistant teaching and learning from OUR teachers. Many of the dancers we have taught in this area love the performing arts and love working with kids. This program provides them the opportunity to bring both together in a resume building position.

All TAs are required to attend a training workshop every summer in order to assist in the classroom in the fall. They learn numerous elements to teaching dance. Some of these include: techniques, terminology, class structure, student to student relationships, teacher to student relationships, teacher to parent relationships, music use, prop use, sandwich method for improvements, stacking method for teaching steps, choreography, recital prep, etc...

This can be a very rewarding job but there is quite a bit that goes into preparing for the year, the classes, the events and the shows - that most people are not aware of. We are teaching these TAs the beginning stages of this and letting them try out their skills with a class or two.

We are require each interested student to fill out an application and write a short essay for consideration into the program. Their progress in their personal classes throughout the year is taken into consideration when their position is reviewed for continuing with the program.

Please email us if you are interested in being considered for the Dance Arts Academy TA Program. We encourage all interested candidates to apply and if you are not selected this year please re-apply next year!
